10.2 disposals, 4.8 marks, 1.5 tackles per game. The marks number is the headline — nearly 5 per game as a first-year defender is absurd. Carlton have him playing as their primary intercept marker, and at 190cm with genuine spring, he’s grabbing everything in his airspace.

What makes the 55.8 even more impressive is the floor. His lowest score from those 6 games was 42. When your worst game as an 18-year-old defender is still generating cash, you’ve got something.

Role & Opportunity

We were at Ikon Park a few weeks back and O’Farrell looked like he’d been in the system for five years. Composed, reading the ball early, setting up the rebound. The coaching staff clearly rate him — he was running with the ones in every match sim we saw.

The question everyone asks: does Carlton’s off-season recruiting threaten his spot? Short answer: no. The Blues reinforced their forward line and midfield. The backline structure is essentially locked in, and O’Farrell is a starter. When we spoke to people around the club, the word “untouchable” came up more than once regarding his spot.

Defender rookies are unicorns. There’s always a dozen mid-price midfielders to choose from — but a D6 who averages 55+ at under $250K? You might get one of those per year, if you’re lucky.

SuperCoach Verdict

Must-have. O’Farrell is the safest rookie in the pool regardless of position. Defender scarcity makes him mandatory. Slot him D6 or D7, set and forget. If the second-year jump pushes him to 65+, he’s a top-10 value pick in the entire competition.

Betting Angle

4.8 marks per game as a teen intercept defender. Once individual player marks markets drop for 2026, keep an eye on where they set O’Farrell’s line. There’s a good chance it’s based on limited data and sits a touch low.
